Taking good care of yourself sometimes means doing things differently than what you have in the past or trying a new skill. Below are a list of resources and supports to help you develop new ways of addressing challenges.
Academic Skills
Time management and study skills are essential to academic success. Review the resources below to learn other effective habits. Other great ways to figure out time managment is to talk with friends and family members. Consider talking to an academic advisor, staff in the Learning Center, or staff in the Writing Center for additional ideas.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation
Cueing muscles to contract and relax can reduce stress and promote feelings of relaxation and control. This 6 minute video provides a great introduction to progressive muscle relaxation.
Yoga Nidra
Yoga nidra is a relaxation practice incorporating guided visualization, breath awareness, and meditation. This free recording through the Insight Timer app will guide you through a yoga nidra.

Below are common topics and times of year when students seek out support from the Counseling Office:
- Mid-September: academic support and time management and building supportive relationships, loss and change in relationships (link requires log-in to TimelyCare)
- October: Seasonal depression when the amount of light changes, temperatures drop, and regular activities change.
- November and December: Holiday stress and end of the semester/Finals
- Mid-February: Relationship stressors, academic support and time management
- April: End end of the semester/Finals

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
